The Finished Look
Owner's Goal & Pricing
Change the finish. Keep the contrast.
The owner wanted the factory gloss-white finish changed visually to satin white, with complete protection across the exterior white paint and factory gloss-black components. The black pieces were intended to remain glossy.
With approximately 833 miles at installation, this Carrera 4 GTS was protected early, before normal road wear, contamination, stone impacts and repeated washing could accumulate significantly.

Coverage & Finish Strategy
Full-Body Coverage
Full-body PPF means the exterior body surfaces in the stated scope, including all exterior body-color painted components.
Protected
- All exterior white painted surfaces, including the white painted roof — XPEL STEALTH
- Every factory gloss-black exterior surface — XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS
- Headlights — XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS
Excluded / unchanged
- Taillights — no PPF
- Door jambs, hidden and interior painted areas — not covered
- No exterior carbon fiber; the exterior black components are factory gloss-black
Two-Tone Installation Strategy
STEALTH creates satin white; ULTIMATE PLUS preserves the gloss-black finish. The original Factory White paint is gloss beneath the film, so extended coverage and wrapped edges help minimize exposed gloss-white slivers at panel boundaries.
The aim is clean, factory-like satin/gloss transitions. Edge wrapping depends on safe access and practical installation limits.

Installation Story
Bulk Film & Extended Patterns
- Hood
- Bulk installation
- Front bumper
- Bulk installation
- Other body panels
- Extended patterns on the remaining applicable body panels
- Edges
- All safely accessible edges wrapped wherever practical
Bulk film on the hood and front bumper, extended patterns elsewhere and practical edge wrapping help minimize visible gloss-white paint along the satin-white panel boundaries.
Rear-Wing Complexity
The rear wing’s geometry and adjoining surfaces make it one of the more involved areas, particularly where satin and gloss finishes meet.
The many factory gloss-black exterior components all received ULTIMATE PLUS. Consistent switching between the two films preserves the intended finish transitions.
The taillights were removed for installation access, but did not receive PPF.
Center-Lock / Headlight Access
Only the front center-lock wheels were removed, to provide the required access for proper headlight removal. The center-lock system required appropriate dedicated tooling and the correct Porsche handling procedure; the rear wheels were not removed.
Porsche-Specific Disassembly Experience
The shop owner personally handled disassembly and reassembly. Toyz has worked with the modular 992-generation 911 platform since its early years and has performed similar procedures across numerous 992-generation Porsche projects. Familiarity with the removal sequence, fastener locations and reassembly supports controlled access.
- Removed for access
- Front wheels only, headlights, front turn-signal assemblies, exterior emblems, taillights and rear wing
- Coverage access
- Component removal supports extended PPF coverage, wrapped edges and clean finish transitions
- Reassembly
- Removed components returned to a factory-like assembled condition
Existing Window Tint
This Porsche arrived at Toyz Detail Studio with XPEL PRIME XR Plus already installed — 70% on the windshield and 35% on the remaining tinted glass. Window tint was not installed by Toyz Detail Studio as part of this project.
The existing tint is excluded from the PPF reference price and Toyz workmanship coverage. These shades document the existing customer vehicle configuration and are not presented as a California-compliant tint recommendation. California Vehicle Code §26708.

Project Questions
What does XPEL STEALTH look like on a white Porsche 992.2 Carrera 4 GTS?
On this car, XPEL STEALTH changes the appearance of the underlying Factory White gloss paint to satin white. The original white paint remains beneath the film, while the protected factory gloss-black pieces retain their gloss finish.
Was every exterior surface on this Porsche protected with PPF?
Every exterior white painted surface, including the white painted roof, received XPEL STEALTH. Every factory gloss-black exterior surface and the headlights received XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS. The taillights and door jambs were not covered. Full-body PPF refers to the stated exterior body scope; hidden and interior painted areas are excluded.
Why use XPEL STEALTH and XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS on the same Porsche?
STEALTH creates the satin-white body finish. Clear gloss ULTIMATE PLUS protects the factory gloss-black exterior surfaces without changing them to satin. Using both films preserves the intended satin-white / gloss-black two-tone contrast.
How much does a comparable full-body PPF project cost on a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS?
A comparable full-body two-film PPF project is currently approximately $7,999: $6,199 for XPEL STEALTH on all exterior white painted surfaces for a satin finish, plus $1,800 for XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS on every factory gloss-black exterior surface and the headlights. This is an October 2026 comparable project reference. It includes the stated coverage, preparation, appropriate disassembly and reassembly, installation labor and follow-up inspection. Final pricing depends on the vehicle and scope. Existing tint and ceramic coating are not included.
How long does a full-body two-film PPF project take on a 992.2 Carrera 4 GTS?
The installation-time reference for this Carrera 4 GTS is approximately 6–8 business days. Vehicle condition, coverage and installation complexity can affect scheduling.
Why does a Porsche 992.2 GTS require more disassembly for this type of PPF installation?
Access around the rear wing, lights and adjoining components helps support extended coverage, wrapped edges and clean satin/gloss transitions. The required removal sequence depends on the 992 platform and the protection scope. On this project, the shop owner personally handled disassembly and reassembly.
Why were the center-lock front wheels removed?
Only the front wheels were removed, to provide the required access for proper headlight removal. The center-lock system requires appropriate dedicated tooling and the correct Porsche handling procedure. The rear wheels were not removed.
Was the XPEL XR Plus window tint installed by Toyz Detail Studio?
No. The Porsche arrived with XPEL PRIME XR Plus already installed: 70% on the windshield and 35% on the remaining tinted glass. It was not installed by Toyz as part of this project, and is excluded from the PPF reference price and Toyz workmanship coverage. These existing shades are not presented as a California-compliant recommendation.
