The Finished Type R
Owner's Goal & Pricing
Protecting a New Type R
The owner wanted to protect the Type R’s high-impact front areas from normal road debris and stone-chip exposure without choosing full-body PPF. Extended front coverage, ceramic surface protection and side-window tint addressed protection, easier maintenance, heat management and privacy.
Already familiar with Toyz through earlier detailing visits, the owner brought the essentially new car in shortly after delivery.

- A-pillars
- Front leading edge of roof
Targeted Physical Protection
The selected coverage extends beyond a basic full-front package to include the A-pillars and roof leading edge. These forward-facing and leading-edge areas are exposed to normal road debris.
This is targeted front protection, not full-body PPF. Film helps reduce the risk of paint damage from road debris; it does not make the vehicle damage-proof.

Installation Story
Bulk Film & Extended Patterns
- Hood
- Bulk installation
- Front bumper
- Bulk installation
- Other applicable protected areas
- Vehicle-specific extended patterns
- Edges
- Wrapped wherever safely accessible and practical
The hood and bumper were bulk-installed to maximize coverage and edge flexibility. Other protected areas used vehicle-specific extended patterns, combining accurate fit with extra film beyond the visible edge for clean wrapping where accessible.
Bulk and precut are selected panel by panel. A professional installation is defined by the fit and finished coverage, rather than by using bulk film everywhere.
Ceramic Protection
Ceramic Over PPF & Exposed Paint
XPEL FUSION PLUS was applied across the installed PPF and the remaining exposed painted body surfaces. It supports hydrophobic surface protection and easier maintenance across both surfaces.
PPF provides the physical film layer on selected impact areas. Ceramic complements that film with surface-maintenance protection; it does not replace PPF’s physical impact protection.
Windshield Only
XPEL FUSION PLUS Glass was applied to the windshield only. The other exterior glass was not included in this coating scope.
Wheel Faces Only
The XPEL FUSION PLUS Wheel & Caliper product was applied to the black wheel faces only. The visible red calipers and wheel barrels were not coated.
XPEL PRIME XR Plus
35% Front / 20% Rear
The front side windows received 35% XR Plus film, while the rear side windows received 20%. The staggered shades create a darker rear appearance with a lighter front-side shade.
The selected ceramic film supports cabin heat management, privacy and appearance.

The front-side windows on this vehicle received 35% film. This customer-selected shade is not presented by Toyz Detail Studio as a standard California-compliant front-side-window configuration. PPF & Ceramic Care
Follow Toyz’s coating-curing instructions before the first wash. XPEL advises waiting 48 hours before washing freshly installed ULTIMATE PLUS; a coating’s cure instructions may require additional care.
Hand wash gently, dry the vehicle fully and keep high-pressure water away from PPF edges. Avoid abrasive polishing on coated surfaces.
Window Tint Aftercare
Do not roll down freshly tinted windows on the day of installation. The windows may be rolled down normally starting the following day. Follow any additional installation-specific care instructions provided at delivery.
For cleaning the newly installed film, follow the delivery instructions and XPEL’s climate-dependent guidance of approximately 1–5 days. Use soft microfiber and a mild non-ammonia cleaner.
Return for the complimentary 1–2 week inspection and follow-up wash. Toyz can check film edges and answer maintenance questions.

Project Questions
What areas are included in this Civic Type R PPF package?
The extended full-front XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS package covers the full hood, front bumper, full front fenders, headlights, mirror caps, A-pillars and front leading edge of the roof. It is not a full-body PPF package.
Why add A-pillars and the front roof edge to a full-front package?
They extend targeted film protection to additional leading-edge exposure zones. This owner chose those areas to complement the hood, bumper, fenders, mirrors and headlights while keeping the project focused on the front of the vehicle.
Were the Type R hood and bumper installed using bulk PPF?
Yes. The hood and front bumper received bulk installation. The remaining applicable protected areas used vehicle-specific extended patterns, with additional film for wrapping edges wherever safely accessible and practical. Bulk and precut were selected panel by panel.
How much does comparable extended full-front PPF cost for a Civic Type R?
The PPF portion is approximately $2,199 using the October 2026 current comparable reference. That covers the extended full-front XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS scope shown here. Final pricing depends on condition, preparation needs and coverage.
Why ceramic coat both the PPF and exposed paint?
XPEL FUSION PLUS supports hydrophobic surface behavior and easier maintenance across both surfaces. PPF supplies the physical film protection in selected impact areas; ceramic supports broader surface maintenance and does not replace PPF’s impact protection.
Which windows received XR Plus tint?
The four side windows received XPEL PRIME XR Plus: 35% film on the two front side windows and 20% on the two rear side windows. No windshield or rear hatch tint was installed. The front-side shade is not presented as a standard California-compliant configuration.
Were the full wheels and calipers ceramic coated?
No. XPEL FUSION PLUS Wheel & Caliper was applied to the wheel faces only. The wheel barrels and brake calipers were not coated. XPEL FUSION PLUS Glass was applied to the windshield only.
How much is a comparable complete package like this?
A comparable complete package is approximately $3,499 using the October 2026 current reference. Individual service reference figures are approximately $2,199 for extended full-front PPF, $699 for four-window XR Plus tint and $599 for the XPEL FUSION PLUS ceramic package. The complete-package figure is a separate approximate reference.
Was this a completely new Toyz customer?
The owner had previously used Toyz Detail Studio for detailing and returned with the new Civic Type R shortly after taking delivery.
